BANDITS WIN FOUR, FINISH 2ND IN SOUTHAVEN
Bandit Baseball started the weekend with four straight wins before dropping a 7-2 decision to the Sliders in the championship game of the Southaven Shootout to earn second place in the weekend event.
The Bandits started off the weekend with a game one victory over the West Kentucky Titans, as Will Rutland picked up the win in that 9-3 decision. Game two saw the Bandits sprint out to an early lead behind three singles from Baker Hill, a single and a double from Patrick Tatum, and solid pitching from both Austin Douglas and Ben Hudson. Douglas went four innings, allowed just three runs, and picked up the win, while Hudson came in to pitch one inning and picked up the save as the Bandits won 6-4.
Sunday's first opponent was the Vipers Baseball Academy, and the Bandits had to rally late to overcome a 4-0 deficit. Tanner White had a pair of singles in the game, and in the bottom of the fifth, Trace Hamby doubled in Matthew Collum to tie the game at four apiece before Baker Hill singled in Hamby to give the Bandits the 5-4 victory. Christopher Adcock pitched 5 innings and picked up the win.
The Bandits then opened up championship bracket play against the Tupelo Rangers and jumped out in front early. Trace Hamby had a pair of singles, Baker Hill had two monstrous homeruns, and Patrick Tatum had a single and a double in the game. Will Rutland, who pitched 3 innings, picked up his second win in as many days, while Tanner White came in to pitch the final inning as the Bandits went on to win 11-3. That was to be the Bandits' last win of the weekend, however, as they fell behind the Sliders early and never recovered, dropping the championship game decision by a score of 7-2.
